Arrhythmias & Electrophysiology

Arrhythmia is a broad term that describes an abnormal heart rhythm, which could consist of a fast or a slow heart rate. Arrhythmias can be benign or dangerous or simply troubling because of the symptoms they cause. Electrophysiology is the area of cardiology that diagnosis fast or slow heart rhythms through studies of the electrical circuitry of the heart. Arrhythmias can be treated with medications, pacemakers, defibrillators or ablation of the arrhythmia.
